A separate HVAC system for

Working in an HVAC company has its perks, but for me my family enjoys those perks.

I work as an HVAC technician, and the other day when I had just finished installing a furnace, I got a call from my father requesting that I find time and schedule HVAC maintenance for their in-law suite.

When I reminded them that it was less than a year since I had sent an HVAC repairman to their home for the annual heat pump service, they told me they had found someone who wanted to rent the in-law suite. They wanted to ensure everything was fine and in good working condition before the new tenant occupied the suite. The suite, which was without the main house, had heated floors, which helped with indoor comfort. The main house had a heat pump install system, but it was not the same unit the suite used. The decision was made before I joined the heating business. When I started learning more about heating technology, I realized it was an unnecessary expense because the HVAC system in the main house would have also catered to the needs of the detached in-law suite because they were nearby. But with this new renting venture, having separate HVAC equipment will work out very well. They would pay for their quality heating and be in charge of replacing their furnace filter. I offered to teach the tenant more about heating and answer any questions they might have. They sounded very excited about getting a tenant, especially since the tenant had an eight-year-old son, and they took that opportunity to remind me that they were still waiting for grandchildren from me.
