I’ve typically lived with the mindset that an air filter should be substituted every more than five months when the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system is getting inspected for a new season.
- My parents typically lived this way, so it was natural that I followed suit.
It wasn’t until one of my most recent Heating, Ventilation, and A/C tune ups that an Heating, Ventilation, and A/C professional told myself and others otherwise. According to him, air filters needed to be substituted every many to many months rather than every more than five months. This seemed awfully frequent, but he was adamant. When I asked him why it was so often, he broke it down in easy terms for me. Heating, Ventilation, and A/C systems toil best when there has nothing hindering it and that starts with a wipe air filter. When there’s a lot of dust and debri clogging the air filter, it restricts airflow and makes the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system run harder to push air through. This makes things less efficient. The Heating, Ventilation, and A/C professional also told myself and others that if I was using a stronger and more durable air filter, then I wouldn’t need to substitute the air filter so frequently. The more fancy and thicker air filters could last longer than the cheaper and more flimsy air filters. When I listened to the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C professional tell myself and others all this information, I couldn’t help but know grateful for his honesty. This was the first time I’d ever heard this information before, and I knew it would help myself and others care for my Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system better. I would now consider my air filter and how often it was substituted more frequently than before.
