Growing up, our Grandpa was a heating and cooling worker here in town. Since he lived right down the street from us, we spent a lot of time over at his place. My Grandpa was the kind of man who enjoyed talking about his work. He enjoyed teaching us about it, however I remember how he would teach us all kinds of little tips and tricks when it came to the heating and cooling at the house. Sometimes he would let me come to work with him. I couldn’t entirely do anything to help him, however I felt good to be on the job. It was fun as a young boy, however one thing I remember is that a few times a year, we would always help Grandpa swap out the air filters. My Grandpa told us that one of the largest complications that he sees when going on Heating & A/C calls is simply due to problems with a dirty filter. People do not stay on top of increasing and cleaning their dirty and jammed filters, and then as a result, it causes problems with the gas furnace, recognizably to the limit switch. On top of that, dirty filters reduce the efficiency of the gas furnace, too. When I was old enough to live on my own, my grandpa made sure to tell myself and others that I need to change our filters once a quarter. Now, I think about our Grandpa everytime I change our filters.
