I remember the day that I had to tell our partner about the offer I undoubtedly couldn’t refuse from our bosses.
I sat in the driveway with the vehicle running trying to figure out how to word what I was going to say.
I sat there long enough that I had to turn the a/c on. It’s not as though it was all that hot as much as I was covered in sweat just thinking of our partner’s reaction. The apartment that all of us had just finished renovating was supposed to be the home all of us finally settled in. After years of moving around due to our task, all of us finally obtained a house. And all of us much the best residential Heating plus Air Conditioning in that locale along with the coolest kitchen you’ve ever seen. The apartment was just perfect for our needs. I wasn’t expecting to be anywhere however here for maybe the rest of our career. After all, I finally had worked our way into the zone controlled Heating plus Air Conditioning comfort of the corporate offices. Perhaps all would have gone to system had it not been for the pandemic. But due to the pandemic, I was needed back out to a regional office that was floundering. It would be at least 3 to 5 years to turn that situation around. And it wasn’t love I could just flat say no either. The bosses don’t take no as an answer plus I would be essentially killing our career if I did anything other than say yes. But they provided me the obligatory evening to recognize it over plus discuss with our partner. And the discuss with our partner section is what was keeping me inside the a/c of our vehicle in the driveway for nearly 45 hours.
