When it comes to radiant heated floors I think they are very nice and totally awesome! I have a friend who has radiant heated floors so I had a chance to experience exactly what they are all about.
However, radiant heated floors are not for me no matter how nice they are.
The reason for this is because in order to have radiant heated floors you need to have wood or tile flooring with no carpet. I love my carpeting too much to get rid of it for anything. Plus I do not have wood or tile flooring. It is all cement underneath my carpeting. So not only would I have to ditch my carpeting which I would never do, but even if I did it would require too much cost in construction to lay wood or tile flooring throughout my home. I will admire the radiant heated floors my friend has from afar. But I will never be getting radiant heated floors for my own home. They just are not for me because of the whole set up. They do not fit my home or my lifestyle. For me, I am happy having a portable space heater and my central heating and air conditioning system unit to take care of all my winter heating needs. With the portable space heater I can still save money on energy bills like radiant heated floors do. I just use my portable space heater along with my central heating and air conditioning system and alternate between the 2 at different times of the day and it works out all the same!
