Reasonable habits improve HVAC savings

Otherwise, the cost of running the air conditioning could quickly spiral out of control.

This winter has flown by so quickly, it’s unbelievable. When I greeted October and the end of the extreme heat season, it seemed like only yesterday. By October, the days of the summer blast furnace are typically over, though we may still need some air conditioning. When it comes to the weather and the utility bill, that is when things get good. It’s typically all about the air conditioning if you live in a region where the heat pump reigns supreme. I despise the winter season ending because of this. I enjoy winter because of the temperature, the holidays, and the weather—but not because of the high utility costs. During the winter, I actually look forward to receiving my utility bill. The heating costs are minimal because the heat pump is typically silent in the winter. However, all of that is about to change as March draws closer. We will also adapt to the changing seasons and welcome back our sensible HVAC practices. One needs to have excellent habits when it comes to HVAC equipment in order to reduce cooling costs as much as possible. All of those beneficial practices are meant to increase the HVAC system’s effectiveness. Good habits are crucial, whether it’s making sure the house is tightly sealed or just drawing the shades to block direct sunlight from heating the home. Otherwise, the cost of running the air conditioning could quickly spiral out of control. The discipline of consistently setting the thermostat is the best habit in our home. We pull out fans instead of lowering the thermostat. We can save hundreds on air conditioning expenses if we continue to practice good HVAC habits.
