The absence of a/c at the Mexican restaurant

I previously thought that the primary reason that I go to restaurants is for the food.

  • Why would I possibly care about anything else? If I don’t love the food that’s being served at a restaurant, I would never bother to go there.

I never legitimately suppose about the ambience and atmosphere, or whether or not it has conditions controlled in the building. At least, I never used to suppose about that until recently, last Thursday night, I went into our favorite Mexican restaurant, and I was startled by something I would normally not notice. I was so used to opening those double doors and feeling the whoosh of air-conditioned air pour over me. Instead, I was greeted with heat! It was hotter inside than it was outside. The air was so sizzling and stuffy. Me and our partner looked at each other and shrugged. Max and I were both starving by this time, so both of us decided to follow through and get a table. Five minutes in, as Max and I were waiting for our drinks, Max was fanning herself with one of the menus and I felt a bead of sweat trickle-down our brow. When our waiter came with our drinks, I finally asked what had happened with the Heating and A/C system, he said it had been on the fritz since lunchtime, and no repairs could be made until the next afternoon, and needless to say, both of us enjoyed our refreshing sodas a little bit more than both of us would have otherwise. Normally, myself and Max love to order a sizzling plate of fajitas, but both of us were absolutely trying to figure out what could possibly be more refreshing at this point. Max and I ended up staying and eating lunch, but both of us never took for granted a/c in any restaurant ever again!
