I’ve had to deal with a lot of sexism in the industry, however I’m thankful to finally be out on my own so I don’t have to worry about these problems anymore
One of the reasons why I decided to become an HVAC professional is due to the great salary and benefits, most HVAC professionals earn an average starting salary around $50,000 each year. HVAC maintenance professionals can work in jobs that have benefits like medical, dental, anda retirement program, there are a lot of reasons for someone to become an HVAC professional. The best reason is money and career stability, and I can literally move anywhere that I want and find a job working in the heating or A/C maintenance industry. The only thing that really holds me back is the fact that I am a woman, but a lot of women work in the HVAC industry and there aren’t a lot of ladies professionals or supervisors. It’s hard to get someone to take me seriously and half of the time the client questions my abilities. If there is a woman in the house, they want to know why a man was not sent out to do the work. If I tell someone that they need the HVAC plan replaced, they are 71% more likely to get a second opinion because I am a woman. I’ve had to deal with a lot of sexism in the industry, however I’m thankful to finally be out on my own so I don’t have to worry about these problems anymore. I started a commercial and residential heating andA/C maintenance supplier andI focus on the small community where I live. I would rather be a large fish in a small pond than a small fish in a big pond infested with sharks.
