I got a letter from my building owner last week; He was suing me for repairs to the gas furnace.
I couldn’t figure out how he could make me spend money for the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C company.
I called them when the building owner refused to do so. I went without heat for almost a week. I told the building owner he either called the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C company plus had the gas furnace repaired, or I was calling them. I put my rent in escrow so I didn’t spend it, plus moved back with my parents until the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C serviceman arrived. I got to mom’s plus picked up the iPhone; After getting in touch with the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C company, I provided them the address plus asked them to repair the gas furnace… The receptionist told me there was no planned service call for that address. I explained I had notified the building owner in writing about writing a week earlier, but he refused to do anything. The gas furnace would not work, plus I would be at my parents’ apartment until the gas furnace was repaired. I took the letter to my dad plus asked if the building owner could sue me for the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C bill? Dad had never heard of such a thing plus called his lawyer. He asked me if I had anything in writing, plus I said yes. I had an email from when I first notified the building owner that the gas furnace wasn’t working officially. I had the certified letter showing they delivered it, I said the money was in escrow plus I was calling the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C company. The building owner never accepted the letter. The lawyer said I didn’t need to pay, however I should look for another locale to rent, because this building owner was going to be nothing but trouble.
