New and Modern HVAC Equipment

It always made me feel slightly uncomfortable repairing an ancient heating and air conditioning machine. But it is a request I get every now and then. Oftentimes it is because people can’t afford to get a new air conditioning device, or for some reason, they keep clinging to the idea that the old one will work efficiently again. I feel bad for the families that can’t afford it, but I do wish they would get a payment plan for a new heating and A/C machine. The reason why I feel uncomfortable repairing old heating and A/C machines is not because I don’t know how. No,I have quite a bit of experience with repairing heating and air conditioning machines, but new and old. It is because I feel like I am scamming the family. I know that the old machine is not going to last much longer and it is going to cost them far more money in the long run. So continually repairing an old machine feels like I am stealing from them, even though they are the ones who ask for it. Perhaps that is a weird way to feel, but that is exactly how I feel. I have recommended for most people to try a HVAC service plan, a heating and cooling service plan helps prevent most issues from occurring, and that will help with most machines. For the ones that are too far gone, well there is not much I can do for them except hope that the family chooses to get a new HVAC installation.

We got a call a few minutes ago. The call was a lady complaining about her cooling machine having some issues.The issues it was having was it was not cooling her home as efficiently as it should have been. The appointment was scheduled for me to go to her place and take a look at what is going on. I hopped in the HVAC company truck and started driving towards her home. Her home was somewhat difficult to find, it was in a more forested area, and difficult to see, but I managed to find it anyway. When the lady answered, I noticed she looked quite old. Her home had fallen into disrepair, and I couldn’t help but to wonder if no one was taking care of her. I found her air conditioning system, and the problem was immediately obvious. Her air filter was clogged and incredibly dirty. If I am being honest, it looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in several years. I am not sure how her air conditioning machine is still working, usually that would be enough to shut a HVAC device down, with neglect like that. Nevertheless, I took the old and very gross air filter out, and replaced it with a new fresh one. The fresh HEPA filter was all it needed. After that I told the lady it was good to go. I also told her about the HVAC service plan, to prevent her air conditioner from falling into disrepair again, and then I left. I felt bad for the lady, and hoped that she had a family that could help her.

What was that sound? I heard something loud happen and it woke up me in my deep sleep. Must have been nothing so I fell back to sleep. An hour went by and I woke up again and my room felt cold. I went to the thermostat dial to see what it was set at and it was at the temperature I always keep it at, a beautiful 80 degrees. The thing is I know this house isn’t at 80 degrees because it feels like it’s 65 in here. I understand to some people having your thermostat set to 80 degrees is awful but I love it. It’s just my comfort spot and I sleep well in it. I knew there was something wrong as my house to me felt like it was just way too cold. I’m not a fan of calling John and Mark, the local HVAC technicians, but there was something wrong with my HVAC system. I called John at 1 am and he answered like he always does. He is a nice HVAC tech who always looks out for the people. I heard his voice sounding all tired and I explained there is something wrong with my furnace. He asked if it was something he needed to check out now or if he could wait till morning, maybe like 7 am to stop by. I was a bit nervous and I said it’s fine, I’ll see him at 7 am but until then I’ll have to pull out my electric blanket to keep me at the comfortable temperature I need.

Mark is a great guy and he will do whatever he can to help out his family, friends, and the clients that need him for his HVAC business.

Mark is one of two HVAC technician’s that he runs with his twin brother John.

Mark barely sleeps and I can tell that he is a little disgruntled at times. He is either working or sleeping. There really isn’t much for his family outside of that. So I’m happy we get to go on these 2 week vacations every year. I know John will be able to handle the business back at home but I’m sure he is overworked as well. Our kids Marcia and Brady want to get into the HVAC business when they get older but I hope they have a better idea of how to run the HVAC business when they get older. Mark and John’s HVAC company literally takes over their lives and their social life takes a major hit. They do a lot of small jobs around our small little town because the people really rely on them to clean their air ducts or do some air conditioning maintenance. I know back in the day they still miss their old buddy Dwight who was the third member of their business but he passed away about 5 or so years now. John and Mark really need to get past that and start looking into hiring more HVAC technicians. I’m not really sure if they are emotionally ready for that yet and I wish they would be. All of us are getting older and I’m hoping they both will eventually see all the life they are missing.

I was able to repair the air conditioner myself last Summer when it froze up, however this was a crucial deal for me, since I have never really been able to repair anything myself in my entire life.

I have never been what you would call a handy kind of guy. I don’t even think how to change a lightbulb or unclog a drain. It’s just not something that I am gifted with, for some reason. I think a lot of other things, though. For instance, I’m super smart when it comes to computers plus vocabulary words. I’m just not good at fixing things in real life! Anyway, last Summer the two of us had a record heat wave around where I live. The temperature was up in the triple digits plus it literally never gets that hot around here! People were calling their Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C companies right plus left because they couldn’t get their air conditioner units to keep up with the demand that the temperature was placing on them. I had my own concerns at my home when I realized that the temperature in the home was going up instead of down when I had the air conditioner running. Apparently, I had the air conditioner on for so long that all of the condensation caused it to freeze up somehow! I turned the whole thing off for a while because I thought it made sense to let it thaw out. Even though I got really hot plus uncomfortable during the time that I left it turned off, when I turned it back on, it started working again!

My brother really thinks that he is the best Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C serviceman in the world. I suppose anywhere along the line, someone told him that he was fantastic. I am not saying that he is not a good Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C serviceman; don’t get myself and others wrong. I think that he knows a whole lot about furnaces plus air conditioner units. I just do not believe that he is the greatest one in all the world like he thinks that he is; My brother has consistently had concerns with feeling like he is better than almost everyone else. Even when the two of us were kids, he consistently liked to act like he was number one at everything, and both of us used to argument about it but eventually I just gave up plus let him believe that about himself. My brother has a lot of concerns, but lacking confidence is not one of them!I was surprised that he did not run for president or something like that because he thinks so highly of himself… Anyway he ended up going to our local technical university to get his Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C certification, plus so now he is the best Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C serviceman in the state, well, at least he is the best Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C serviceman in the state according to himself! He really drives myself and others silly occasionally, that’s for sure. I hope that they never provide out awards or anything at the Heating, Ventilation as well as A/C supplier where he works. If he ends up winning something, then there will just be no living with him from then on. I mean, I’m proud of him, but he makes that difficult.

It’s not over even though I can sort of see the light at the end of the tunnel, of course, it’s snowed or iced in our region even well into April! So I’m not taking anything for granted… However, I can tell that the demand on the gas furnace is waning… That’s the area of the Wintertide that I love to see happen each year; But I have to say that this Wintertide has been so much more comfortable inside our home.

And the heating costs have really come down.

Even though the utility corporation hiked the heating costs again this year, I saved almost 20 percent over last year when it came to heating. That is a significant savings for sure plus I’m simply over the moon to be putting money back in our pocket, then usually at this time of year, I’m in full disfigure control mode to shore up the family budget after paying for all that heating. But thanks to the local Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C corporation plus just a bit of effort on our part, we appreciated 1 of the most comfortable Winters ever plus saved money. That’s the sort of double whammy that I love. All it took was for myself and others to go online to get all the instruction I needed for winterizing our home, but i updated weather stripping plus a couple of storm doors. I spent a couple of afternoons outside caulking plus sealing any gap I could find on our house. There was some more insulation added to the attic plus I finally found a heating leak due to imusual insulation of 1 of our updatement windows. All of this didn’t take any sort of inordinate amount of time or energy. But wow, I can’t hardly suppose these results from that effort.

The cats are busy cleaning each other’s ears as I do my writing.

This week I have to put out two fires; one at the bank and the other at the dentist office.

Life takes maintenance and I haven’t been very good at maintaining my teeth the past several years. My gums have been receding and I am afraid that they are going to have to take my teeth out one day and replace them with implants or something. Or I could go the old fashioned route and just get dentures, haha, no way. Implants are costly and the local business will take many trips there to get them all done. My HVAC tech buddy had all of his teeth replaced with implants but they look like piano keys they’re so big. The easiest way would be to get dentures but that would be a nightmare. The heating dealership where I do my HVAC sales could give me more hours, so that would help cover the cost of the teeth overhaul job that I am going to have to get in the not so distant future. I could always yank them all out and just drink all of my meals but I don’t think that would go over too well with my wife Kat. I guess the HVAC company can give me enough heating and cooling equipment repair work to pay for the new grill so I better just get down to business and knock it all out. This is not going to be fun but I have to do it or my health will suffer.

We are going to take our music to other cities and maybe hit some other countries and see how it works in them.

Today I am trying to think of warm thoughts because it is just downright cold out there. The town is quiet again after the crazy Carnaval celebration and will be for the next two months or so. We are going to work on the ski lodges for next winter so that we have gigs lined up when the season hits. My bandmate’s lady has a flat up on the mountain and we can stay there while we do our gigs and hopefully make a big pile of money to take back home with us. During the summer we do HVAC equipment sales while we play in the beach bars in their air conditioned rooms. This summer should be a good one because there are going to be a lot of people in town and the bars should all be full. We are working at the HVAC business doing heat pump repairs and saving money so that we can get this RV that we’ve been wanting for a long time now. We are going to take our music to other cities and maybe hit some other countries and see how it works in them. I think the RV is going to have a good climate control system and we will need it because it can get quite hot during the summer in the vehicle if you don’t have any a/c. As for the winters, it should be warm enough in the car for us to travel around without getting too cold. The heating system in the RVs are usually really good at heating up the vehicle.

Wow, today was really cold when I went for my bike ride to the coast.

The air temp was just a bit above freezing, about 35F, and the sea temp was 55F.

It took all of my tenacity to strip down to my board shorts and go in the water with the coldness outside and the big waves pounding me. I think I stayed in the sea for only about five minutes because I was getting hammered with some pretty big waves. I talked to a surfer friend for a bit and then had to come home to my heating system and hot bath. It took me about 15 minutes to warm myself up in the hot bath and now I am feeling alright as I sit in my office and do my work. I am going to adjust the thermostat on my hot water heater so that I don’t run out of hot water when I take these baths. I think I can crank it up about 20 degrees and I should have plenty of hot water for my baths. I think the heating dealer told me that we have a month of cold weather, so it looks like I will be running my furnace for a bit longer before giving it a break. Summer will be here soon though and we will be playing music in all of the beach bars in town and having a lot of fun. I want to buy a new HVAC system next year so hopefully we can do a lot of gigs and bring in a bunch of money.
