I have finally been approved to start a daily meeting at the local high college… My idea is to expose these students to the idea of trade work, care about plumbing, roofing, or being an electrician, to let them think they have a lot of options, then i remember when I was in college, all my teachers said I needed to go to college if I wanted to have a great job.

• I ended up going to trade college, and wound up with an amazing job, and I want to make sure the young people of today have that same chance! By laboring in the Heating and A/C industry instead of going to college I have spent the last 23 years making great money, although I can speak from the heart about Heating and A/C work, I also want to provide these teenagers a opening to experience other trades so they don’t know limited, then the concern is that I don’t think firsthand about roofing, or plumbing, or being an electrician, so I need to bring in some other trade experts to talk to the students; For any of them who show an interest in heating and cooling work, I can arrange a ridealong where they spend a few hours with a single of my techs.

They can witness a few condo calls or commercial Heating and A/C inspections and get a taste for what the day-to-day work is like. It requires some specialized education, of course, but an Heating and A/C tech can work a manageable schedule and make great pay; Unlike laboring in fast food, Heating and A/C work offers a bright future for teens.

I appreciate going to police auctions! My last more than two cars have come from police auctions, & various of my house appliances.

How it works is that in this state both of us have a rule called “asset forfeiture” which basically means if you get busted for being a drug dealer, the cops can seize all of your assets.

The thinking is that things bought with drug money should be taken by the state. Once or twice a year they auction everything off. To get to the point of this, I purchased a small apartment at the police auction, & it came with a few surprises. After I had the house diagnosed by a general contractor I called in an Heating & Air Conditioning contractor to look at the central system. Mike & I knew each other back in middle school, & I was proud to see that she ran her own Heating & Air Conditioning company now. She & I took a look at the system, & inside a single of the air ducts both of us found a couple of guns. Neither a single of us touched them, just left them in the HVAC duct & called the cops to come & get them. As far as both of us knew they were evidence of some kind of crime! When the cops came to get the guns, they found a bag of money & drugs deeper in the HVAC duct. I’m glad they took it all, because quite frankly if I found a sack of money in the air ducts I would have wanted to keep it for myself. It’s my house, I should keep what I find in it, right?

Last weekend I had a killer get-together, & now I am paying the price for it.

I suppose that it is constantly a small risk to have a big get-together.

When you have a small get-together of friends & family, these worries don’t exist. But when strangers wander through my home, I constantly do things care about lock up my jewelry & hide the pills in my medicine cabinet… just in case. It is the fact that someone came into my house, loved my hospitality, & then had the nerve to steal the I can only imagine that they were in such desperate need of cooling at house that they needed it more than I did.
