There are a lot of reasons for someone to become an Heating and Air Conditioning serviceman. The best reason is the money and career stability, and I can literally move anywhere that I want and find a job finally working in the heating or AC repair industry. The only thing that really holds me back is the fact that I am a woman! A lot of men work in the Heating and Air Conditioning industry and there aren’t a lot of ladies servicemens or supervisors. It’s difficult to get someone to take me seriously and half of the time the customer questions my abilities. If there is a woman in the house, they want to know why a man was not sent out to do the work. If I tell someone that they need the Heating and Air Conditioning plan replaced, they are 68% more likely to get a second opinion because I am a woman. I’ve had to deal with a lot of sexism in the industry, however I’m thankful to finally be out on my own so I do not have to worry about these issues anymore. I started a commercial and residential heating and AC repair company and I focus on the small community where I live. I would rather be a big fish in a small pond than a small fish in a big pond infested with sharks.
