HVAC can help prioritize respiratory health

It’s not too long now before our house is all sealed up again and the air conditioning is running non-stop.

Where we live, about the only time it’s suitable to have the windows open is during the winter.

The rest of the time, there is often continuous need for air conditioning. So we really love to get all the fresh air inside the house while we can. It’s February now so it won’t be but a couple of months before the heat pump will be back on to provide cooling comfort. And that means having the house sealed up super tight in order to maximize the efficiency of the heat pump. However, when the house is sealed up tight, the HVAC unit is actually helping protect and strengthen our respiratory health. That’s because we have a whole home air purification system installed inside the HVAC equipment. This sort of air purifier actually destroys indoor air contaminants rather than trapping and removing them. This air purifier uses ultra violet light to actually fry the DNA of all airborne contaminants. Thankfully, that means destroying pollen from the trees and grasses. This is a particularly great benefit for me as I suffer from seasonal allergies. Along with pet dander, the pollen can render me almost useless during the spring. So having the whole home air purification system is an added bonus for me. But air purification also provides the very best indoor air quality one can find. And so I know that I’m providing the best environment possible for my family while they are inside the central air conditioning of our home.
