Water shouldn't leak from the boiler.

I walked down into the basement last month, & I could not suppose why there was water pouring from the boiler.

I was afraid all this water would run my whole well dry, because it was coming out so quickly.

I called the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C company hotline & told them how water was coming from my boiler, & I needed their help. The Heating, Ventilation, & A/C pro told me that water shouldn’t be coming from the boiler, unless it was a steam boiler. He asked how my heat was distributed? I didn’t know. I just knew I heard the steam boiler running, & then my nice friend and I had heat. I paid for oil when I needed it for the steam boiler. If there wasn’t oil or electricity, I didn’t have heat. The Heating, Ventilation, & A/C pro told me he would be there shortly, however I should turn off the water. He had to talk me through turning the water off. I turned off the water valve, however he had me close the main valve, which meant I had no water anywhere in my house, & I wasn’t glad. I hoped the Heating pro would arrive soon. When he got there, he told me to call a plumber. The steam boiler was in nice condition, but the pipes needed replacing. I asked him what a steam boiler was, & why I didn’t have a boiler. He told me a steam boiler heated water, & the water flowed through pipes & the heat from the pipes sent heat into the house. I called my older sibling who was a plumber & told him I needed new water pipes for the steam boiler system. I didn’t understand anything he was saying about the steam boiler, however I understood needing a plumber.

It wasn’t usual to turn off the thermostat.

Before my fiance Sam left for work, he would adjust the thermostat to energy saving mode & then switch off all the lights.

I had to be at the office an hour before him, & I got back home an hour or so before him… Last week, I left for labor & knew when I got home, the condo would be cool & comfortable.

It was supposed to be over ninety degrees & excessively humid. When I got home, it was ninety & humid in the house, & the air conditioner wasn’t working at all. When I looked at the thermostat, I thought my fiance Sam had turned it off. It wasn’t like him to turn the thermostat off, but as I said, he did put it into energy saving mode. The air conditioner would begin ramping up half an hour before I got home, & the condo would be cool when I walked in. I looked more closely at the thermostat, and I knew it was the problem & not my fiance. I called him & asked if he would pick up a new thermostat on his way to the household from work? Sam promised to stop at the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C company & get a new programmable unit from them. That way, he could talk to a Heating, Ventilation, & A/C professional into installing it for him. Sam was an excellent business man, however he knew nothing about electricity. Sam cringed if he had to change a light bulb. Two hours later, our new thermostat was installed, & fresh cool air was coming from the air vents. I’m happy all Sam and I needed was a thermostat to get the AC unit running again.

a/c rep

We got new A/C in time for summer.

Max wanted to get a newer Heating, Ventilation, & A/C system before Summer arrived, but for two months, I watched Max & Mom vacillate between having central Heating, Ventilation, & A/C installed, or buying the new ductless Heating, Ventilation, & A/C system. They already had enough ductwork, & had been using the last central Heating, Ventilation, & A/C for nearly twenty years, but that was how out of date the components were. Max installed new central heating & air conditioner when they bought the house. The duct was already in the house, & they figured it had to be at least fifty years old. When they last had the old ductwork cleaned, the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C company found more cracks & pinholes than it had three years earlier! Max was thinking that the metal was getting old, & would soon be rusting inside, if it wasn’t already, adding the cost of all new ductwork to the cost of new Heating, Ventilation, & A/C component was going to be well out of their comfort level. Max said they could not afford to have new ductwork installed & purchase the newer Heating, Ventilation, & A/C equipment. I walked in & told Max I had been enjoying an infomercial from the local Heating, Ventilation, & A/C dealer. They had been talking about ductless Heating, Ventilation, & A/C systems. The new model of mini split ductless Heating, Ventilation, & A/C system was cheaper to run. It didn’t use fossil fuels & was efficient in heating & air conditioner. Max told me he had seen the same infomercial, which was why he & mom were considering buying a ductless Heating, Ventilation, & A/C. He asked my opinion, which surprised me. I was eighteen, & never once had Max asked for my opinion. I had to go with the ductless. We had ductless Heating, Ventilation, & A/C installed before summer.

They said this little AC unit would be perfect for poolside.

I love being in my swimming pool, but it gets absolutely sizzling on the wooden deck.

  • The poolside is all wood and concrete & the sun heats it up to where my toes are cooking if I don’t wear some sandals.

I was playing a cool game online, & I had to watch an advertisement to get free play. Normally, I put the iphone down until the ads were done playing, but this one ad piqued my interest. They were talking about a portable air conditioner unit that could cool down the air around you, even poolside. I kept the ad on my iphone for a couple of days until I was 100% sure I wanted to learn more. I then started doing research & I also took care of all the online reviews on the air conditioner unit, however unfortunately, I found more rotten reviews than good. The cool water mist helped for a while, but had to continue filling up the water reservoir every ten or fifteen minutes. One guy said the cool mist just made it feel warmer because of the added humidity… She said the a/c worked okay if you were under the covers, but it didn’t bring the temperature down plus laying under an umbrella. I decided to buy some thick soled flip flops & then my nice friend and I bought a large patio umbrella which covered all my poolside furniture. I was protecting my furniture from the sun, & providing me with needed relief from the sun. I will continue to look around for a portable a/c for my deck, however I don’t suppose I’ll ever find anything for the intense heat, like my patio heating system works in the winter.

They said this little AC unit would be perfect for poolside.

Max often forgets to turn on the a/c.

Ever since I can remember, Max has been a landscaper, regardless of the season, Max would be outside working.

  • Max spent the Summer tending to sods, & creating yard art out of hedges & large grass.

I loved going with Max to see the appealing statues he created with nothing but hedge trimmers & clippers. Max was a true artist. When Max and I got home, he would disappear into the garage. I thought Max was cleaning his components or sharpening them, but mom said he was escaping the air conditioner. Because Max worked outside all Summer long, the air conditioner was too cold for him. Max had heat in the truck when he was plowing snow in the winter, & he would freeze if Max and I didn’t have a boiler. The warmer the better with the boiler. I never thought about how it would affect me if I needed to labor outside full time. Now that I am older & have a home, I often call Max, then mom passed away, & I know he often forgets to turn on the a/c. Maxis no longer working full-time, however he still putzed around in his garden. When they put out a high heat alert, I call to make sure Max isn’t out in the sun, & hopefully he has the air conditioner on. Max tells me he has the fans running, however he still doesn’t suppose he needs the a/c. I hope Max has the ability to continue working outside for a long time. If Max ever needs to stay inside & use the air conditioner to be comfortable, I suppose he’ll just give up.

indoor air quality

I can’t fathom a life without an air conditioner.

I know I have told most people my tale, but my Grandfather didn’t suppose that air conditioning was needed… They didn’t have air conditioner in the house, & neither did their parents.

This was a family of farmers & knew how to deal with heat & humid summers.

They would come back from the field, & scrub off in cold water… I would often see them with wet clothes on the backs of their necks or on their heads. I grew up in the city, & my mom & Mom had an air conditioner; When Mom moved away from the farm & went to school, he never looked back. Mom embraced this modern way of living, & my nice friend and I had an air conditioner in our home! One summer, my parents took me to the farm so I could get to know my Grandfather. I was there quite often through the years, & when my parents were on trip. We would spend the holidays with my Grandfather, but it was pretty cool. This year, I was going to spend time while in the summer. They expected me to labor on their farm with them, & there was no air conditioner in my room. I had a difficult time sleeping during the night, & I could not get used to it. When mom & Mom picked me up, I said I had a lot of fun, however I could not get used to not having an air conditioner. It was even harder when I got back home. I was shivering the 1st week, because the air conditioner was too cold for me.

Cutting the tree over my Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C system

I have this tree that sits right over my central heating plus a/c unit plus it has been a real bother, it keeps shedding plus risking getting inside the central heating plus a/c.

I decided to have the thing split down! Without the tree there my heating plus cooling unit will be a lot better off all together.

I had thought about calling the local heating plus air conditioner dealer to come out plus transfer the central heat plus air conditioner unit, although I figured that would potentially cost way too much money verses just having a landscape dealer split down the tree, now that I have the tree split down I plan on buying a tarp for the central heating plus cooling unit, however a tarp seems to be the greatest thing right now with a lot of people buying them to protect their central heating plus air conditioner units. It can protect from things like the tree I just had split down, the leaves that gather around the heating plus a/c unit in the fall plus then also it can protect your heating plus a/c against the storms like hail plus such things like that. But I am cheerful that I finally had this tree that was a major pain in the rear split down plus now I will no longer have to worry about it possibly messing up my central heating plus a/c.

Did Heating & A/C systems just shrink?

Everyone I know who just got brand modern & completely current central heating, ventilation & A/Cs seem to have much smaller heat & air conditioning units than what I regularly have been used to, and did central heating, ventilation & A/Cs just shrink? Or am I crazy? Or is this the way they are made these days.

I found out after doing some particularly curious research on the internet that sure, it is a fact that central heating, ventilation & A/Cs are now made much more compact & light weight than what they were 10 years ago; Which that was about the time I bought my last central heating, ventilation & A/C unit.

So I had no idea what they were making now days, however heating & air conditioning technology as well as how heating, ventilation & A/C equipment are made is a whole modern world this week verses a decade ago. I find it both amusing & impressive that they can make an all so powerful & particularly nice central heating, ventilation & A/C these days inside a particularly small & light weight case! The thing is light enough for a single guy to be able to move it instead of it needing 2 to 3 people to move the older central heating, ventilation & A/C units that I have known all of my life. Heating & A/C technology never stops impressing me. I am sure that there are more amazing things just around the corner!

Heating and Air Conditioning ads weren’t for me.

When I talked about becoming the owner of a local Heating and Air Conditioning corporation, I was thinking about all the tasks I didn’t want to do.

One of the scariest things about owning a small contractor biz is wondering how you were going to get clients.

My husband Sam was gleeful and told me I would need to do some Heating and Air Conditioning advertising. I wasn’t interested in handling advertising, however Sam was. Sam told me advertising is what he went to college for, however he found me instead. Sam told me advertising was important. Sam and I could hire an online advertising contractor to advertise our small Heating and Air Conditioning corporation, or Sam and I could do it ourselves. I rolled my eyes and told him I was a Heating and Air Conditioning specialist and not a tablet geek. Sam once again reminded me he was a advertising major in college. That didn’t mean he was an expert in tablets. Sam said if I didn’t trust her, I could hire another online web development corporation. I was just talking about owning the Heating and Air Conditioning contractor and had no real plans yet, however he was already planning for ads and websites. I stopped Sam in mid-sentence and told him he was hired if I ever followed through with my idea. As it was at that moment, I was just speaking my thoughts aloud. I had no real intentions of being an Heating and Air Conditioning contractor owner, and it was sort of a ‘what if, and sometime in the future’ scenario. Sam must have thought it was a ‘this happening as soon as possible’ scenario… You would suppose I should have learned many years ago not to speak my ideas out loud. That’s how I wound up engaged.

The Heating tech said our furnace was about to die.

My husband Biff and I had talked about getting a whole-household air purification system installed.

I knew Biff and I had to call an Heating and Air Conditioning corporation.

There had to be a few unusual things which needed done when installing a whole-household air purification system. Biff called the Heating and Air Conditioning contractor I always used for the Heating and Air Conditioning system and told them what my enjoyable friend and I wanted. Two afternoons later, a Heating and Air Conditioning specialist named Ed was at my door. Ed checked the furnace and the a/c unit. Ed had records from the Heating and Air Conditioning contractor about our Heating and Air Conditioning system, but he wanted to be sure. Ed told us the furnace was all wrong for an Heating and Air Conditioning system. To use a whole-household air purification system, you had to have a central system that was compatible with a HEPA air filter. Our a/c equipment could take a HEPA air filter, but not the furnace. The furnace was getting pretty old, so I thought I would just get a new furnace, something else worried him. Ed said he did have records about the air duct. Was it ever cleaned? Did it need repairs? Ed then talked about UV lights. Anything that could get through the HEPA air filters, had to pass through a UV light. I knew what UV lights were for. I had a water filtration system that had UV lights. It killed everything that passed over it. I asked if there was anything else Biff and I could use for air purification separate from a new furnace. Ed said my enjoyable friend and I could do other things, but the furnace would still need to be replaced before winter weather arrived. I knew I wasn’t going to get around purchasing a newer furnace.

Getting the heated flooring installed.

I knew my brother-in-law was away for two or 3 weeks.

Sam was going to see their kid who had just had a baby.

Sam wanted to help with the baby until the kid was moving around a little bit better after having a c-section. Two afternoons after he left, Sam called me and asked me to come over. Sam told me his husband had consistently wanted radiant heated flooring in the lavatory, and he wanted my knowledge. I was an Heating and Air Conditioning specialist, but I wasn’t the kind of Heating and Air Conditioning tech who worked with radiant heated floors. That didn’t keep me from going to his house. Sam asked if his furnace would toil with radiant heat. I didn’t suppose so. Sam had a traditional Heating and Air Conditioning system. Most places with radiant heated flooring had boiler systems. The running water pipes were beneath the flooring and it was the tepid water that heated the flooring. He had a central Heating and Air Conditioning system which used air ducts to pull the heat to the rooms. He asked me if there were other ways to supply the same effect of radiant heated flooring. Some of my clients had installed heat tapes under the walkways and ramps. The electric heat tapes radiated heat up to the surface, and it didn’t allow for ice or snow to form on those areas. I told him heating tape should toil just as well, or better, under the lavatory floor. All I had to do was lift the carpeting or tiles, and place the electric heat tape. Sam volunteered me to help him with the radiant heated flooring in his lavatory. I was certainly the only Heating and Air Conditioning tech who would toil with Sam for free.
