The answer was there in front of them the whole time. It’s just they couldn’t see it. When Emma and Chad did, it was sweet relief. Like numerous other families across the globe, Emma and Chad opted to go through the process of adjustments when the pandemic was raging. They got sent home from the zone controlled Heating and A/C of the office to labor from home. And that came with no bonuses plus a pay cut for like 14 months. Yet, Emma was still able to work inside the a/c of their home that first Summer. Chad wasn’t as lucky as he was fired. That’s when the fear nearly got the best of them. Chad’s paycheck was just about half of their income and it wasn’t there anymore. The home they own together comes with a mortgage that was right at the edge of their finances. And now the unthinkable had happened. It’s not like he could just apply and get another job because nobody was hiring. Chad managed to find some gigs online and work alongside Emma inside the central a/c. But that didn’t come close to helping them make ends meet. They thought they were going to have to sell the house. When the answer popped into their heads, it was like the light went on for the couple. The basement was finished and had its own entrance and a lavatory with a shower. All they had to do was have the Heating & A/C contractor come out and install a ductless heat pump down there. After that, they could rent it out.
