It’s not really just a home gym.

The space in my basement where my wife and I workout, do yoga and relax is a bit more than a home gym.

Still, it’s in the basement right? Well, we’re not all wealthy and fabulous. But you can sure do the best you can. We even had a ductless heat pump installed in this space to provide us with some awesome quality heating and air. Really, all of this was part of a new direction in our lives. So something like having the HVAC professionals install a ductless heat pump is worth the cost. Shoot, I bet we have saved more than enough in just bar tabs to afford that ductless heat pump. My wife and I have done a 180 when it comes to our lifestyle. Gone are the happy hours at the bar followed by pub food once the day is complete. Now, we do other things when the day inside the zone controlled HVAC is over. This is all based around some new, healthier passions. There’s a cooking class that we both enjoy. And we are even in a double pickleball league. It’s great being active. But we also can turn to our new space with the quality heating and air. There we can exercise or just meditate and do it in the HVAC comfort from the ductless heat pump. It’s just so nice to have a room where there are no distractions and the focus is on our bodies. That is made all the more possible with the ductless heat pump. Otherwise, it’d be pretty uncomfortable during the dead of winter and the height of summer.

It worked a long time and risked a lot to have some success.

I could quit doing anything but that would be boring. Too many years of getting up to head out to the zone controlled HVAC of the office. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to just stop unless my body says no more. Still, I love the fact that buying properties to rent them works for me. I still have an office but it’s inside the HVAC comfort of my house. I have to check in most days. But we can also ditch the air conditioning of home and go traveling. So life is good. I’ve been doing this long enough now that I’m able to trust the people I do business with. If there is an issue, I can handle pretty much anything over the phone if I’m away. That was recently the case with a home that had to have some rather extensive renovations. We got into it and found out that the ductwork was shot. It had to come out and then be replaced if we were going with the traditional central air conditioning. But the HVAC contractor I do business with saw a way for me to avoid a big expense and still get great quality heating and air. This turned out to be great and now, I’m considering going with the ductless multi split systems in the rest of my places. I’m very impressed with the quality heating and air that comes from ductless heat pumps.

There is no doubt that it was great having all that money saved up

For sure, I didn’t hide my excitement very well at all. As soon as the HVAC technician told me that our heat pump was at the end, I produced an ear to ear smile. Finally it was true, I could update the quality heating and air in my home the way I had wanted to for at least four years. When the HVAC equipment passed the 20 year mark, I actually started a savings account. I knew that there would be a need for HVAC replacement, so why not be ready. But due to the HVAC maintenance we’ve always done in the fall and again in the spring, the old HVAC unit just kept on running. That would have been great and I been not so anxious to get my hands on the latest in residential HVAC. So when that kid told me heat pump was dying, I was excited. That’s kind of awful given how well that old HVAC unit has performed. I wasted no time in getting an appointment with an HVAC contractor from the HVAC company. Once the inspection was complete he sat down with my wife and myself to go over the details. He couldn’t have been more professional and we knew that we were in great hands. Now we have the latest and residential HVAC and even a smart thermostat we’re very pleased with how all of this HVAC technology is working. There is no doubt that it was great having all that money saved up. This way, we could go as deep as we wanted to with the HVAC technology.

When all of us kids finally got out of their hair, my parents wasted no time getting on with their lives.

• It didn’t take my parents long toupgrade the HVAC equipment and sell that house.

The made sense to me. They’d raised all of us and made us the center of their lives for such a long time. Of course, they should be able to enjoy the next part of their life. I’m the youngest and my two older siblings are out of college as well. I was doing pretty good with my first new job. While just three years out of school, it was a good job and things were going my way until the pandemic hit. Before I knew it, the office and the commercial HVAC were shut down and I was sent home to work remotely from the air conditioning in my apartment. But that didn’t last very long. I was afraid that I would end up being one of the first to get let go. They made sense considering I was one of the last ones to join the commercial HVAC of that office. Still I had hope so I kept doing my work from the rather poor air conditioning in my apartment. When that pink slip eventually came, there was nothing I could do to change that. I held on as long as I could but it made no sense to try to hold on to my lease without any steady work. While I was doing some online gigging, it wasn’t paying all the bills. God bless my parents because they were right there to welcome me into their new place and the awesome HVAC they have. They went all in on the HVAC technology for sure which made staying with them until I got back on my feet a real comfort.

Selling our home has been anything but a hassle free enterprise that’s for sure.

I’m just hoping that it will all be worth all the effort, emotions and energy. For my wife and I to give up the place where we raised our kids was rough. And it took us a long time discussing it inside the air conditioning of our home to feel good about selling the house. But those discussions were important and a very essential part of the decision process. My wife and I have always been partners and we are still partners as we move into this next part. Still, selling the house and moving out didn’t come without some tough decisions. The HVAC replacement was one of them. Our realtor that had the listing was well thought of in our community. She sold a lot of property in the area but she was also a genuinely nice person. We were looking for both of those characteristics. When she suggested that we upgrade HVAC equipment during her very first visit to our house, I wasn’t all that thrilled. I didn’t understand why I would replace something that was still working. Plus I had invested a lot of HVAC maintenance into that HVAC equipment. I thought it still had a decade left in it. Fortunately, our realtor had data to back up her suggestions and we made the decision to upgrade our residential HVAC. It paid off with a profit on our home that is still hard to wrap our heads around.

Okay, so the last two years of pandemic has made me more than aware of any sort of change when it comes to my health.

Just like everybody else in the country, I hid inside the air conditioning of my home to avoid coming down with that virus.

I have some genetic health issues that really put me at a much higher risk. Before they were vaccinations, there was nothing I could do but stay inside the air conditioning in my home. My bosses were really cool about understanding that being inside the commercial HVAC of the office was not a great idea. So they kept me at home inside my own air conditioning for almost 2 years. Finally, I got back to that commercial HVAC of the office and a new normal I’m still coming to grips with. Then all the sudden I came down with a pretty bad chest cold. Of course I immediately got tested but thankfully it wasn’t covid. Still the respiratory issues stayed with me for weeks. Finally, I went to the doctor. I was expecting a prescription but got a suggestion of HVAC variety instead. The doctor wanted me to call the HVAC company and have the ductwork cleaning and ductwork resealing done. Once that was completed, I was all set to upgrade HVAC air filter to a HEPA filter. That thing removes more than 99 percent of airborne contaminants. Sure enough once I did all that I had no more problems with that chest cold. Ductwork cleaning by the HVAC professionals is going on the calendar from now on.

So maybe, I’m getting the hang of living up here. This past winter was much better than the previous three. But then again, that first winner was so bad I can hardly even remember it. The only thing I have in my mind is lots of time wishing for more heating from the gas furnace. The first winner, I just had no idea how cold it was going to be up here. Of course, that might have been a smart move to consider given the disparity between what I knew as winter and what a real winter was. Until I moved to the north, the heat pump hardly even had to come on for heating during our winters. There might be a few attire changes but that was all that was required of winter. I just figured that I would get used to it. I mean so many other people got used to gas furnace heating right. The place I ended up buying came with new HVAC equipment. Yeah it’s an older house and I had no clue when it came to winter preparation. The second winter wasn’t all that cozy but I started just getting used to how deep it cold was. Finally though I figured out that you got to prep the house for winter. My neighbors did it and I just kind of followed along. It’s essentially about sealing up the house to keep the HVAC Heating in and the cold out. Once I did that, hot only was it so much more comfortable in our house but the heating cost dropped dramatically. I’m really glad I figured that out. While, I’ll never be a native I might someday be considered a local.

It’s so nice to be able to put another summer in the rearview mirror.

It’s smack in the middle of October and I couldn’t be happier. The air conditioning might kick on during the peak heating hours of the day. But that would be it. By the end of August, I was pretty wilted from the heat so I love not having the HV \AC cooling on so much this time of year. The next 8 months are the best weather I’ve ever had in my life. There isn’t much need for HVAC heating in our future. But the heat pump can certainly deliver if necessary. Still, there’s no going through a summer without a quality residential HVAC unit. I’m lucky to have a very good heat pump. The heat pump provides the necessary air conditioning we need to get through the hot and humid summer. If you live here, you know that the summer is not just about the temperature. The humidity is such a big factor when it comes to how oppressive the heat can fill. Again, we are very lucky to have great residential HVAC. Our heat pump is very efficient and provides you great HVAC cooling. Yet, the heat pump does more than just cool the house down. Actually, the cooling process includes a vital function which the heat pump also provides. As the heat pump is exhausting heat energy, it’s also balancing the humidity level inside the house. This is vital to mitigate mold and mildew. Without this important part of HVAC cooling, we’d be spending a lot of time cleaning up mold and mildew in our homes.

One thing I’ve learned thus far in this life is that plans are nice but life has a way of happening anyway.

This is what happened recently for my wife and I. Prior to retirement, we put a lot of effort into planning the next chapter of our life. We were eager to get rid of the need of HVAC heating and move to a place where the focus of HVAC was on cooling. The older we’d become, the more we just didn’t want to deal with winter in the high cost of HVAC heating. Moving south was what we had our sights set on. But nearly a year before I was ready to walk out of the commercial HVAC of the offices for the last time, it all went to pieces. What change was we became grandparents. Suddenly moving to all that air conditioning just didn’t mean as much as it once did. That’ll happen when you look in the eyes of your first grandchild. At first, we thought we could still move and just visit the grandkids. But once we started being active grandparents, the idea of moving to all that air conditioning just didn’t make sense. So we upgraded the HVAC equipment along with the kitchen and got a great price for our house. We made enough money that we could build a much smaller home but still it was everything we wanted. To that end, we now have geothermal heat pump and we love it. Not only is it super sustainable but it provides maybe the best HVAC heating I’ve ever experienced. The heating comes from radiant floor heating and I can’t believe how warm and cozy that sort of radiant heating makes our home.

I hate to even utter the words man cave. But that’s just what I have now and I love it! When I was a kid, my dad had a really cool man cave. This was well before cell phones and custom air conditioning. But his place in the basement was the best. He had a really cool bar and it was glorious. That bar was all pine and it was 25 ft long. There had to be dozens of coats of polyurethane before my dad put that wood on the bar. I was only allowed down there every now and again. I got to bring beers and sandwiches when Dad would have poker night. Perhaps that’s what started my love of a man cave. Once the kids went on to college my wife and I got a smaller place. But it had a basement so once I paid off the new HVAC equipment, I was ready to put in a man cave. And I worked at it little by little. I find a recliner at a yard sale. Or maybe there was a couch a friend was getting rid of. I bought a fridge and even put in a bar. It was not as nice as dads but it worked. Once I had all the essentials in place it was time to call the HVAC company. They came out and put it in a ductless heat pump which was the cherry on top for me. This has been the most fun I’ve had during a fall sports season in my life. And all of it is thanks to a man cave with some great residential HVAC.

Owning a business comes with some basics.

At the end of the day, you have to be willing to go the extra mile when it comes to your business. Of course, I spent years working inside the commercial HVAC of corporate offices honing my skills before I went out on my own. But the plan was always to go out on my own. It took about three years of saving, planning and preparation. So when it was time to leave the commercial HVAC of the office, I went all in on my own business. This summer, that meant staying out on the road. My business is essential to me and the three other people who has hired. We are a great team and provide a great service. I’m the one who is out there are closing deals and starting service on site. So that meant a lot more time out of the air conditioning of the office than I thought. The rest of the team works in the commercial HVAC of our office which is small and located not far from my home. To save money, I decided to take to the road this summer and just stay out there. It saved a lot of money because I was able to cover a lot of ground. Luckily I was able to find great air conditioning at all the little motels along the way. As long as it was clean, affordable and had good HVAC cooling I was all in. However, now that it’s October, I’m sure glad to be home. I missed my place but I don’t miss not having to deal with a ton of HVAC cooling costs either.

It always pays off to be sure that you have the right people for the right job.

And that’s what we did when it came to renovating our home.

We needed real professionals to be sure set this classic’s design was maintained. My wife and I knew that it would be an undertaking but we thought it would be worth it. When it came to the HVAC, there was a special challenge. We need to just the right HVAC contractor for the job. The house we bought and decided to restore its original state was assigned well before there was residential HVAC. This posed a problem for us. The previous owners had a sort of hodge-podge of heating and cooling. There were some window air conditioning units as well as space heaters. The heating of the house wasn’t the biggest concern since we live where the winter isn’t all that rough. The need for a HVAC heating was secondary. The need for HVAC cooling was primary. So we searched and searched until we found the right HVAC professional for this project. The first thing we did was rip out all the old HVAC equipment. To flow with the design, we chose to go with a series of ductless heat pumps. Having ductwork out in the open was out of the question. Plus, the ductless heat pumps blend right in with the design of the home. The results of our new residential HVAC are a profound success. And it had everything to do with finding the right professional for the job. In this case, it was finding the right HVAC professional for a really tough challenge when it came to heating and cooling.
