For sure, that old HVAC unit was a trooper.

That piece of HVAC equipment was actually the very first appliance I ever purchased.

At the time, the seller was super resistant to replacing the HVAC unit. That guy was actually unwilling to do much of anything before the sale of the home. But this ended up working out for us in the long run. Since that man was so bent on doing nothing, we walked away from the closing. This got his attention and he was in willing to negotiate on the price in order to not have to do all the stuff himself. The first improvement we made was the residential HVAC. The HVAC company was great and that’s why we are still with the same folks some 25 years down the road. The old HVAC unit was now at the end of the line. Utility costs will be going to rise spectacularly which is a clear indication that the heating and cooling equipment just can’t meet demand. This meanest a farewell to the HVAC unit which has served us so well. That thing never gave us one second of trouble. We stuck with HVAC maintenance from the very beginning and it sure has paid off. I can’t speak highly enough about the value of consistent, seasonal HVAC maintenance. I’m sure looking forward to the new hvac technology of our new residential HVAC. But I would be remiss if I did not salute the old HVAC unit for a job well done. I sure have enjoyed all the great quality heating and air.

The late fall isn’t too far away and I love that time of year.

• That hasn’t always been the case.

It took my wife to bring back the magic of the holidays. Her love for the holidays is just so infectious. Spending a lot of time inside the commercial HVAC of work during that time of year makes coming home even better. That’s the time of year that’s most hectic for me and my work. We have a lot to accomplish in that commercial HVAC by the end of the year. Having a nip in the air, reminds me that I’ll be going home two nice hvac heating and a special glow. That glow comes from my wife but also from all the candles that are lit in the house. She is way into candles. She loves having the candles cranking during the holidays. Honestly though, it’s the coziest, most comforting feeling for me. It’s hard to believe because I’m not all that sentimental for the holidays. However, all those candles being lit at that time of year has a way of just de-stressing me and adding a smile to my face. But when that time of year comes, I have to go to the hardware store. That’s where I pick up a case of HVAC air filters. I have too frequently change the air filters on the HVAC unit due to all the candle wax collecting on the HVAC filter. But that’s the least I can do during that special time of year. I’m just so thankful to live in a great place with the best person on earth.

 

New HVAC equipment

Having a sunroom on our retirement house was not high on my priority list.

Getting out in the sunshine on the daily sure was.

Still, my wife had her heart set on having a place with a big sunroom. To me, that seemed a bit redundant. I mean here we are moving to a region where it was all about the sun and the blue sky. Why wouldn’t you just spend the time outside? Plus, what would you do in the sunroom in the summer without air conditioning? well, we found out about all of this very fast our first summer. We moved to our new place in April and by mid-may, the sunroom was simply off limits for me. My wife who loves the heat, still spent time out there until about mid June. Then, she was kind of done with the sunroom as well it was just too hot. So that defeated the purpose of having the sunroom. Why wait all summer to enjoy a sunroom because it was too hot? But then, I noticed that we were avoiding the sunroom in the morning during the winter because it was a bit too chilly. For sure the winter here is super mild but the sunroom is cold in the morning. That’s when we decided to talk with an HVAC professional about some heating and cooling for the sunroom. Initially, I thought they might extend the ductwork. But that’s not how it worked instead we got a ductless heat pump installed and it is just the solution we were looking for when it came to heating and cooling.

It appears that being patient and prepared are a pair of really important things I’m here on earth to learn.

And it’s been that way my whole life.

The plan has never been my strong suit. I’m always in a rush to get the answers. This isn’t a great recipe for the way the world works. But when it came to me allowing an HVAC break down that didn’t have happen, that really upset me. At least, I’ve learned something from the experience. The HVAC maintenance is getting done every spring and every fall going forward forever. It’s pretty simple, I get busy and forget stuff. The HVAC maintenance just has to happen. And it should have happened this fall. It’s not the first time I’ve missed it. So, I just sort of blew it off and hoped for the best when it came to the gas furnace last winter. Well, that was a stupid thing to do as a gas furnace stopped working one night. Of course, it was one of the colder nights in the winter. The fact it was there was no HVAC heating was what woke me up. It was cold in our room and I knew something was up. I tried so hard to get the gas furnace to restart but it didn’t. I ended up having to call for an emergency HVAC service. That cost me a bundle. it cost far more for that emergency HVAC service then it would have cost to have the HVAC heating maintenance done properly. Now that I have the HVAC service plan, the HVAC company can do the remembering.

The idea of having my folks move down here seemed like a no brainer.

And while I’m so glad they aren’t dealing with a gas furnace and loads of snow, dad has been a handful.

He’s the sort that’s kind of accustomed to getting things the way he wants them. These days, much of dad’s day consists of sitting inside the air conditioning. He’s just not able to do the stuff he once did. And it can be very frustrating for him. So I do my best to be compassionate and understanding when it comes to getting him all riled up. But when it came to the HVAC equipment in his new place, I had to get a bit aggressive. My mom’s been gone a while, leaving dad on his own. My sister lived about two hours away and could get him if it was necessary. Wishing figured out that he really needed me down here. So we found a condo he could afford it’s just 10 minutes from where I am. Moving to a region with a really hot summer sort of through dad for a loop. And I had to sort of get him a custom to a higher thermostat setting in the summer to keep the HVAC cooling cost down. When he decided he was going to see if he can work on the HVAC unit I had to step in. I pulled out the HVAC equipment warranty and we went over it together. He heard me state the warranty is void if anyone but a licensed HVAC professional touches it. Dad values warranties so this definitely got his attention.

Sometimes I wish I had enough disposable income to simply forget out doing all my chores. I’d just pay someone to do all the stuff around the house. I’d just go to work inside the zone controlled HVAC of the office and not have to worry about my household responsibilities. There are actually people out there who live this sort of life! But not me. I feel like I’m going all the time as my life is just so busy. For sure, I need to find more balance in my life. However, I still have to get things done in the house or they won’t get done. Being a single mom, the buck stops with me. So it’s on me for stuff like remembering the air filter change for the HVAC equipment. I also how to be sure the HVAC equipment gets the proper HVAC maintenance as well. And I’m not one to really think about these things. Before my divorce, I didn’t have this stuff on my plate. My husband took care of all the HVAC stuff. So now, I’m the one setting alerts on my phone to remember to change the HVAC air filter each month. However, I am going to sign up for the HVAC service plan very soon. I’m sick of having to remember to schedule the all important HVAC maintenance. The HVAC unit needs heating maintenance in the fall followed by an air conditioning tune up in the spring. So with the HVAC service plan, the HVAC company does the scheduling and I don’t have to worry with it. That’s one thing off my plate that I’m very grateful for.

It was almost halfway through the summer for the old heat pump and we really thought we’d make it.

That was almost the midpoint of the heat season down here and we were trying to get an old heat pump to the end of just one more season. My wife and I were told during the air conditioning tune up this past spring that our HVAC equipment was reaching the end all his productivity. We were both a bit surprised. My wife and I were both well aware that we’ve been in this house for more than two decades. And we had that HVAC equipment installed when we first bought this house. However, we were lulled into a false sense of security as the HVAC unit had never given us a moment’s problem. This has everything to do with the fact that we were part of an HVAC service plan provided by our HVAC company. With this HVAC service plan, we got consistent HVAC maintenance. Obviously, that HVAC maintenance made all the difference. However, since we never had any heating and cooling problems, we never thought to start saving for the new residential HVAC. And that’s why we had to try to get through another summer with the old heat pump. It was a bet I won’t make again. Fortunately, we got through the summer but barely. The HVAC cooling costs began to spike tremendously towards the end of heat season. But we were able to save up the money we needed to save in order to get the latest and HVAC technology.

• This is because I do not trust gas; however, multiple fatal accidents can happen from these… From fires to carbon monoxide poisoning.

So when it comes to heaters, I go for anything that is electric or water based; like portable space heaters, steam boilers and warm water boilers, and of course central heating and air conditioners are ok too… With fireplaces it would be only authentic real fireplaces or electric fireplaces; never a gas fireplace. Although the orange flame is nice looking and all, it still scares myself and others because it is gas! I will never have any gas in a location where I live. When I was renting houses back when, if it had a gas furnace or even a gas stove I would not rent the site. Today I have your simple basic central heating and a/c plan that takes care of all our heating and cooling needs, and I also have a smart control unit which is honestly convenient. This is the best way to go for myself and others in our opinion. I do not think how others may believe about various gas furnaces and other gas fireplaces, then but you will never catch myself and others for even a million bucks messing with a central gas furnace, zone gas furnace or even a portable gas fireplace, but give myself and others the simple electric any morning. Sure electric gas furnaces can cause fires just adore anything else. But there are no carbon monoxide poisoning risks with anything electric. So that is where I stay!

This is the best way to go for me in our opinion. I do not guess how others may suppose about gas oil furnaces and gas fireplaces! But you will never catch me for even a million bucks messing with a gas furnace, gas oil furnace or even a gas fireplace. Give me the self-explanatory electric any morning. Sure electric oil furnaces can cause fires just enjoy anything else. But there are no carbon monoxide poisoning risks with anything electric. So that is where I stay!

When I was renting houses back when, if it had a gas oil furnace or even a gas stove I would not rent the locale. Today I have your simple basic central heating plus air cooler that takes care of all my heating plus cooling needs, and I also have a smart thermostat which is genuinely convenient. This is the best way to go for myself and others in my opinion. I do not recognize how others may recognize gas heating systems plus gas fireplaces, but you will never catch myself and others for even a million bucks messing with a gas oil furnace, gas heating system or even a gas fireplace; give myself and others the simple electric any day. Sure electric heating systems can cause fires, just appreciate anything else. But there are no carbon monoxide poisoning risks with anything electric. So that is where I stay!

I suppose I was really lucky that I happened to buy an older condo that has a real authentic fireplace in it, then the fact of getting an authentic fireplace for no additional cost is a miracle! These days homes are not built with fireplaces for the most… If you want a fireplace you have to invest in an electric fireplace or a gas fireplace. In addition, these are just not the same as having a real authentic fireplace, but fireplaces are absolutely good to have in your home… Especially if you are older like me in addition to growing up with fireplaces all around you, however also periodically, having an authentic fireplace can heat your residing room in addition to making it so that you do not have to run your central heating plus air conditioning plan for a little while when in the residing room. Also, an authentic fireplace takes no electricity to run. Just nice aged wood in addition to fire. That is something that you do not see these days much. I am again absolutely lucky that I have an authentic fireplace in my home. People still can get real fireplaces like this, but in order to get them you have to spend sizable bucks to have them created in addition to installed. The new houses just do not come with them built with it anymore like this awesome older home that I have, but my family in addition I absolutely care about this real fireplace every one of us have when the holidays come in addition to every one of us can decorate the fireplace in holiday decorations. It certainly adds to the holiday cheer around my home.
